Miriam Shank

Miriam E. Shank of Sterling, died Wednesday August 12, 2015 at Regency Care Center, in Sterling. Miriam was born December 30, 1917 in Sterling, the daughter of Roy H. and Ruth (Nice) Ebersole. She married Ralph D. Shank July 26, 1941. He preceded her in death on August 4, 1976. She lived on a farm all her life until retirement and was a life-long member of Science Ridge Mennonite Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, gardening, and taking care of her flowers. Survivors include three sons, Phil (Beth) Shank of Wellman, IA; Arden (Meribeth) Shank of Miami, FL, and Ivan (Carol) Shank of Sterling; two daughters, Ruth (Alvin) Martin of Dutton, Ontario; Ginny (Armand) Martin of Goshen, IN; two sisters, Belva Robinson of Cave Junction, OR, and Betty Sutter of Cottonwood, AZ; three brothers, Charles Ebersole of Sterling, Eugene (Merildean) Ebersole of Panama City, FL, and Willard (Ellen) Ebersole of Wichita, KS; two half-sisters, Suellen (Errol) Chavin of South Bend, IN, and Verna (David) Kauffman of Goodfield; 1 half-brother, Roy (Jan) Ebersole of Augusta, GA; twelve grandchildren, Eric (Maria) Shank of Des Moines, IA, Greg (Bethany) Shank of Goshen, IN, Gwen (Robert) Myers of Congerville, IL, Jennifer (Vic) Archer of Kalona, IA, Grant (Janelle) Martin of Goshen, IN, Diane (Bryan) Fisher of Appin, Ontario, Chad (Jess) Martin of Lancaster, PA, Karen (Andrew) Schiedel of Waterloo, Ontario, Nadia (Eric) Shank VanEenige of Chicago, Justin (Brooke) Rothshank of Goshen, IN, Crystal Shank of York, PA, and Carmen (Ryan) Franks of Alexandria, VA; twenty four great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Catherine Johnson, Gertrude Campbell, Anita O’Berg, Pauline Dickhut; three brothers, Everett, Russell and Robert Ebersole. Funeral services will be 3pm, Saturday August 15, 2015, at Science Ridge Mennonite Church in Sterling, with Pastor Arnie Owens, officiating, and burial to follow, at Science Ridge Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:30p.m. to 3 p.m. at Science Ridge Mennonite Church. Arrangements are being handled by Schilling Funeral Home and Cremation. A memorial has been established.
