OLIVE I. SELOOVER STERLING - Olive I. Seloover, 88, died Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Coventry Living Center. She was employed at various places: Wahl Clipper, Lawrence Brothers, Prince Ice Cream Castle, Illinois Division Waterways, Bock Realty, Family Tailored Homes, Century 21, and Ward, Murray, Pace & Johnson, P.C. until her retirement. Olive was born January 9, 1923, in Kinmundy, the daughter of Robert Franklin and Edna (Elder) Maxey. She married Robert Seloover in November, 1941, in Cahokia, MO. He preceded her in death on October 17, 2005. Organizations to which she belonged included Como Community Club, Women's Auxiliary of Post 296 American Legion, Moose, Hooked-on Country Line Dancing, Altrusa Club and United Way Committee. She was very active in community service. For thirty some years starting in 1945, Olive bowled on a league and was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Survivors include two daughters Kathryn (Jim) Kozar, of Burlington, and Sharon (Dave) Boyles, of Morrison; two sons, R. Richard (Jan) Seloover, of Elgin, and Gale (Barb Young) Seloover, of Rock Falls; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; three sisters Lucille Stewart-Meyer, Martha Smith both of Sterling, and Laura (Joe) Holman of Rock Island; and one brother William Ralph Maxey of Rockford. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Francis Jean Janssen, Wanda Elizabeth, Anita Mae Seloover and three brothers Robert W., Marion, and Dale Maxey. A memorial has been established.
