PAULINE VON HOLTEN ROCK FALLS - Pauline Von Holten, 88, died Monday, September 27, 2010, at Walnut Manor Nursing Home, Walnut. Mrs. Von Holten was born May 13, 1922 in Harmon, the daughter of Karl H. and Minnie A. (Schulte) Gerdes. She married Leo Von Holten on December 18, 1941 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dixon. He preceded her in death on June 5, 2002. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Rock Falls. Leo and Pauline farmed in the Walnut area retiring in 1990 and then moved to Rock Falls. She was a homemaker all of her married life. Pauline was a devoted servant of the Lord. She loved being with her family, crafting, cooking, gardening and supporting her favorite sports teams. She was an avid Yahtzee player. She is survived by two daughters, Jane (Larry) Anderson, of Sterling, and Dessa (John) Kereven, of Rock Falls; three sons, Carl (Mary Ann) Von Holten, Dennis (Donna) Von Holten, both of Walnut, and Lynn (Connie) Von Holten, of Sterling; one sister, Irene Glessner, of Dixon; thirteen grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and eight step-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Von Holten; and a sister, Edna Heckman. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, October 1, 2010 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Rock Falls, with Reverend Daniel Behmlander and Reverend David Menet, co-officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Dixon. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM, Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling. A memorial has been established to Christ Lutheran School and Walnut Manor Nursing Home.
