STERLING-Richard Allen Vancil, 59, of Sterling, died Thursday, August 12, 2021 at his home. Richard was born September 20, 1961 in Kewanee, the son of Kenneth and Dottie (Merchant) Vancil. He married Annette Manzano on September 18, 1982. He was a machine operator at Allied Locke, Dixon. Richard was an avid Bears fan, enjoyed fishing, bowling, dancing, softball, going to turkey shoots with his kids, and spending time with his grandkids. Survivors include one son Josh Vancil of Dixon; two daughters, Sarah and Malory Vancil, both of Sterling; two sisters, Jane Hoberg of Prophetstown and Jodi Gaumer of Kansas City; three brothers, Mike (Jan) Vancil of Rock Falls, Jeff Gaumer of Lee’s Summit MO and Joe Gaumer of Mesa AZ; grandchildren, Violet Vancil, London Vancil,Layla Wright, Lily Martinez and Danny Martinez, Jr. He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Vancil; mother Dottie Gaumer; step-father, Larry Gaumer and sister Gigi. Visitation will be 5-7 Thursday August 19, 2021 at Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation. Cremation rites will be accorded and burial will take place at Oak Knoll Memorial Park at a later date.
