MILLEDGEVILLE - Rollo N Wagenknecht 1924 - 2018 Rollo Wagenknecht of rural Milledgeville died of natural causes on February 2, 2018 at the farm north of Milledgeville. He was 93. Rollo Nelson Wagenknecht was born February 20, 1924 in Sterling, Illinois to Otto and Jennie (Nelson) Wagenknecht. He was raised on a farm near Sterling before moving to the Milledgeville area. He married Lucille Wagner on February 5, 1949 at the home of her parents in Milledgeville. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Russell and Robert. He is survived by his wife Lucille, a brother Otto (Dorothy) Wagenknecht of rural Milledgeville, a sister Joyce (Harold) Folkers of rural Polo, a daughter Susan (Arlan) Juhl of Springfield, grandson Ryan (Jennifer) Juhl of Springfield, granddaughter Sara (John) Kleinschmidt of Springfield, granddaughter Erin (Jason) Glenn of Lincoln, Illinois, five great grandchildren: Will, Reed, Knox, and Mae Kleinschmidt and Hudson Glenn, and numerous nieces and nephews. Rollo was a lifelong farmer, retiring at the age of 90. He farmed several hundred acres of ground, raised cattle and hogs and was known as a hardworking, profitable and proud businessman. His farm along Shannon Route is among the most profitable in Carroll County. Rollo liked to talk about having planted his own corn each year that he farmed. He was a regular at the Carroll County Fair and liked to show feeder cattle. Rollo was an avid fan of Chicago sports teams. He cheered for the Cubs, da Bears, and the Bulls. He spent many years as a member of the Carroll County Livestock Feeders Association, the Illinois Beef Association, the Carroll County Pork Producers, the Carroll County Farm Bureau, and served on the Milledgeville Elevator Board. Rollo was a 50 year Mason. Rollo will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be from 9:30 am to 10:45 am on Saturday February 10 at the Milledgeville United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am. with Rev. Sophia Hyon officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carroll County Livestock Feeders Association for scholarships, or to the Milledgeville United Methodist Church.
