Ronald Adams

RONALD PAUL ADAMS ROCK FALLS-Ronald Paul Adams, 77, of Rock Falls, died Sunday, August 28, 2016 at home. Ronald was born August 19, 1939 in Mt Carroll the son of Paul and Irene (Baker) Adams. Ron was employed by North Western Steel & Wire from 1960 to his retirement in 1997. He also started as a paid on-call fireman in June of 1967 for the Sterling Fire Department and retired October 18, 2006 as dispatcher, EMT, and ERT. Following his retirement Ron was employed as a funeral assistant by Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation. He helped start up Little League in the area and helped plan Little League registration, tryouts and was in charge of drafting players for the league teams. Survivors include his companion Melissa Laughlin; Kay Adams, mother of his children, which include three daughters, Judy I (Brian) Astalos of Rock Falls, Janice M. (Harry) Ringler of Dixon and Monica A. (Jim) Kalina of Sterling; four sons, Paul J. (Dianne) Adams of Sterling, Phil E. (Margi) Adams of Washington, Chris P. Adams and Chuck R. (Erika) Adams, both of Rock Falls; one sister, Pat (Denny) Redfield of Sterling; one brother-in-law, Harold (Janan) VanDrew of Sterling; numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and Melissa Laughlin’s two children Matt (Brandi) Laughlin, and Michelle (Rick) Sorensen. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Lou VanDrew; Hopkins Family, Mary(daughter), Patrick, Katie Jo, Donovan, Maggie, and Mark; and a daughter in infancy Kathleen Adams. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the Schilling Funeral Home and Cremation, Sterling. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to Hospice of the Rock River Valley, and Sterling Fire Department.
