Rose Marie Ritenour, 88, of Coleta, died peacefully, Sunday, April 2, 2017 at her home. Rose taught in a one room schoolhouse (Elm School) in rural Coleta and worked as a secretary for the Milledgeville school district before marrying George D. Ritenour on August 15, 1948. He preceded her in death on August 29, 2013. Rose was born September 9, 1928 in Coleta the daughter of Martin C. and Ruth L. (Heide) Frankfother. Rose had four more loves in her life, her Lord, her family, her music and her community. She played the piano and organ for weddings, funerals and many church services in the surrounding area. She was very involved in church and community activities and worked for the CGH Auxiliary until her death. Rose was very loved and respected by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. She is survived by two daughters; Wendy (Scott) Gibson of Rock Falls, and Polly (Mark) Adams of Sterling; and four grandchildren, Matthew Adams of Rogers Arkansas, Kara Gibson of Aurora, Katy Gibson of Rock Falls and Greg Adams of Sterling; one sister, Donna (Arnold) Chandler of Wisconsin; one brother, Daniel (Joyce) Frankfother of Milledgeville and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by one grand-daughter Megan Kathleen Gibson. A celebration of her life will be 10 a.m. at Coleta United Methodist Church, Saturday April 8, 2017 with Pastor Sophia Hyon officiating. Graveside services will follow the celebration of life, at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. A memorial has been established to Coleta United Methodist Church.
