STERLING- Sally Ann Edwards, 80, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Dixon Healthcare & Rehab in Dixon. She was born Sarah Ann Strain on February 27, 1935, to John and Margaret (MaGill) Strain. She married William Harold Edwards, Jr. in 1954 at the Federated Church in Sycamore, and preceded her in death on February 17, 1972. She was a talented creative pottery artist with her own studio and taught pottery at Cal Poly in California. Sally was an exhibit designer for such companies as Kellogg, Kohler plumbing, and Fender guitar. She loved animals of all kinds, she bred, showed and judged Tennessee Walking Horses, Persian Cats, and Standard Schnauzers. She led a fascinatingly full life which included working in a bowling alley as a pin setter, Del Monte Canning Factory processing sweet corn, and in a photography studio, as well as a DeKalb County Deputy Sheriff. She was the life of the party and will be sorely missed. Survivors include one daughter, Nancy (Reverend Mark) Oehlert, of Sterling; one son, William Harold (Kris) Edwards, III of Alabama; a step-son, Marc (Kay) Gluckman, of Pennsylvania, a step-daughter, Merle (Stewart) MacFarlane, of Washington; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Pete) Klein, of Iowa, Michelle Oehlert, of Algonquin, Nicholas (Jenna) Edwards, and Mitchel Edwards, both of Alabama, Jack Gluckman, and Grace Gluckman, both of Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 24, 2015 at 11 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sterling, with Reverend Mark Oehlert officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 5 PM to 7 PM at the church, and also prior to the service on Friday from 10 to 10:45 AM. Cremation rites have been accorded, and burial will take place at a later date. Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling handled arrangements. A memorial has been established.
