STERLING- Sarah Joan Geesey, 95, of Sterling, died, Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Regency Care of Sterling. Sarah was born October 6, 1924 in Maquoketa, IA, the daughter of Charles and Anna Shirley. She married Merrill Thomas Geesey in Rockford. He preceded her in death on August 10, 2017. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sterling. Survivors include her daughter, Carole (Vernon) Schwenk of Ocala, FL; three grandchildren, Tammy (Mike) Wells, Curt (Barb) Newlon and Brian Geesey and one great-grandson, Brandon Vesel. She was preceded in death by her husband Merrill; son, Merrill JR.; three brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at Schilling Funeral Home and Cremation, Sterling, with Reverend Leo Patterson, officiting. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 12pm-1PM Tuesday, prior to services at the funeral home.
