Sheri Peed

Sheri Lee Peed (Byrne), 69, of Prophetstown, IL passed away peacefully at her home after many years of health challenges, surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 19th, 2023.

Sheri was born on November 23, 1953, in Taylorville, IL and graduated from Moline High School in 1972. A servant by nature, she spent many years waitressing and created so many great relationships with her regulars. She lived life to the fullest and even on her toughest days, found the good. Sheri was a mastermind in the kitchen, creating delicious meals and amazing desserts to share with those she loved knowing it would bring them a smile. Food was one of her many love languages and the void at the table will be both her empty chair and the amazing food she prepared. Her laughter was contagious and she had the best sense of humor, cheap entertainment was by far her favorite. We will miss her laugh and her love so much!

The campground was her home away from home and one of her favorite places to be, when her body allowed. Laughing with her sisters in the screen room or sitting on her fishing patio waiting for the next fish to bite (we can all hear her say “Here fishy, fishy!”), brought her hours of joy. She loved being surrounded by nature. Wild animals sensed her gentle and loving heart and often approached her, allowing her to pet and hand feed them. Sheri had an adventurous spirit and got to cross many things off her bucket list over the years. She loved exploring new parts of the world and all the beauty it had to offer with Brian. The trips to Canada and Jamaica ignited her need for more. Over the past few years, the vacations she’d taken with Brian, Lisa, Randy, Connie and Coop, brought her so much joy. She’d spend hours researching attractions and loved brainstorming ideas to plan activities for her “Sister trips”.

Sheri is survived by her life partner and adventure guide Brian Fay, her daughter, Aubrey (Randy) Gordon, sisters Lisa (Randy) Christensen and Connie (Kelly) Cooper, granddaughter Caitlyn (Blake) Karenke, and great grandson Jace Karenke. Also left to honor her memory are many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was met at the gates of heaven by her parents Dale & Joyce Baraks as well as all of her fur babies who had crossed the rainbow bridge in years past.

Per Sheri’s wishes, there are no formal services, and a celebration of life will be held at the campground in the Spring. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Beacon of Hope Hospice for the care they provided Sheri over the past year.
