WALTER B. FELLOWS STERLING- Walter "Walt" B. Fellows, 83, of Sterling, died Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at CGH Medical Center. He worked at the former Northwestern Steel and Wire Company for thirty-two years, for Farmers insurance for ten years, and most recently retiring from Cobane Air Freight , after ten years. Walter was born April 9, 1928 the son of James W. and Nellie F. (Hohlen) Fellows. He graduated from Amboy High School and attended DeVry University in Chicago for two years. He served in the United States Army and Air Force for twelve years. He then went on to get his Doctrine in Ministry. He married Jacqueline J. Klett on April 9, 1949 in Thompson. She preceded him in death in 1994. He then married Helen E. Stewart on April 29, 1995 at the Rock Falls United Methodist Church, where he was still an active member. Walter's hobbies included die cast and sports cards. He enjoyed playing music with his first wife. She would play the piano and he would play the bass guitar. Survivors include his wife, Helen; one daughter, Crystal (Ernest) Anderson of Rock Falls; four sons, Dennis Fellows of Sterling, Lonnie Fellows of Dixon, Lane (Elaine) Fellows of Rock Falls and Dana (Jodie) Fellows of Grand Detour; two step-daughters, Catherine (Wayne) Willis of Sterling and Sheri (Michael) Stewart Claudin of Rock Falls; two step-sons, Randy (Thersa) Stewart and Joseph Stewart, both of Sterling; three sisters, Bernice McFalls of Sterling, Carol Bian of Baton Rouge, LA and Lorraine Undermill of TX; one brother James Fellows of Senneco, MO; brother-in-law, Robert Richmond of Dixon; twenty-four grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren. When Walter was asked if they have any great-great-grandchildren he stated "Mid October!" The motto that Walter lived by was "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" The thing that Walter loved and valued most in his life "My entire and extended family!" He was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth H. Richmond and two brothers, Richard and Lee Edward Fellows. Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, August 6, 2011 at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling, with the Reverend Richard Fassig, pastor of Rock Falls United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Sugar Gove Cemetery, Dixon. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00PM at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling. A memorial has been established to Team Louie Alzheimer's Memory Walk.
