ROCKFALLS- Mary Carlson, 91, of Rock Falls, died, Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at CGH Medical Center.

Mary was born July 01, 1927 in Sterling , the daughter of Lloyd and Dorla (Albright) Thome. She married  Fred Pyse Jr. in March of 1949. He preceded her in death on August 18, 1979. She then married Neil Carlson on June 16, 1979. He preceded her in death on May 18, 2007.

Mary was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, the Sterling Legion Aux # 296 and Illinois Tops # 1426. She was active in the fish pantry and served 11 years on the East Coloma School Board. She retired after 19 years at Rock River Cable TV. Mary was always famous for her Peanut Brittle. She enjoyed bowling on the Saturday Night Mixed Couples Bowling League. She was also a part of the Thursday night ladies bowling league for Corner Tap, Bevilacquas, and M&M Electric for approximately 25 years.

        Survivors include two daughters, Shari (Tom) Baker of Sterling, Dawn (Doug) Storey of Seabrook, TX; one son, Brad (Joleen) Pyse of Rock Falls; three step daughters, Barb (Mike) Sage of Prophetstown, Robyn (Jay) Moresi of Deer Grove, and Karen Heyvaert (Jeff Bos) of Morrison; one sister-in-law, Jean Thome of Sterling; eight grandchildren, Darci (Ivan) Schmitt of Sterling, Matt (Stacey) Baker of Rock Falls, Megan (Steve) Weemer of Charleston, IL, Kyle (Abbie Clark) Pyse of Rock Falls, Courtney (Mike) Rivera of Amarillo, TX, Callista (Ryan) Derrer of Sterling, Dylan Storey of Austin, TX, and Delaina Storey of Seabrook, TX;  nine step grandchildren, Tory (Holly) Upton, Derek Ballard, Michelle (Ed) Meza, Dustin (Christin) Ballard, Chad Ballard, Rachel (Louie) Camacho, Nora Gilman, Ryan (Aubrie Anna) Carlson, and Katy (Michael) Berardi; fifteen great grandchildren; twenty-one step great grandchildren; and one great great step grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Dorla Thome, two step daughters, Sheila Schipper and Beth Ballard; two brothers, Orville Thome and Gilbert Thome; one son-in-law, Tom Baker; and one sister-in-law, Mary Thome.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday March 25, 2019 at Schilling Funeral Home and Cremation, Sterling, with Craig Deem, of Rock Falls United Methodist Church, Rock Falls, officiating. Visitation will be from 2PM-4PM Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Schilling Funeral Home and Cremation, Sterling. Burial will take place at a later date. Cremation Rites will be accorded.

A memorial has been established.
