Obituary of Screlda Martin

SCRELDA “SHORTY” MARTIN

STERLING- Screlda “Shorty” Martin, 93, of Port Orange FL, and formerly of Sterling, died, Monday, April 15, 2019 at CGH Medical Center, Sterling.

    Screlda was born August 22, 1925 in Tamms IL, the daughter of James and Laura (Stanford) Ford. She married Benjamin F. Martin on February 22, 1942 in Jackson, MO. He preceded her in death on August 22, 1991. She worked for Wahl Clipper for 30 years until her retirement in 1980.

    Survivors include two sons, James T. (Janet) Martin of Daytona Beach, FL and Benjamin F. “Benjie” (Sheila) Martin Jr. of Sterling; four grandchildren, Jeff (Penny) Martin of Floral City, FL, Brett (Kim) Martin of Rock Falls, Chad Martin of Sterling and Melissa Martin-Morales-Estepa of Daytona Beach, FL; eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister and four brothers.

    Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, April 19, 2019 at Coloma Township Cemetery, Rock Falls, with Dalmus Meeks, officiating. There will be no visitation.

    Arrangements were completed by Schilling Funeral Home and Cremation, Sterling.
