Obituary of Jean M. Shearer

STERLING- Jean M. Shearer, 90, of Sterling died Sunday June 23, 2019, at Citadel of Sterling.  Jean was born September 12, 1928 in Clinton IA, the daughter of Arthur and Mae (Larson) Skarin.  She married Richard L. Shearer on September 7, 1947 in Prophetstown, IL.

   Survivors include two sons David L. (Deb) Shearer of Crossville TN, and Joe D. (Kathy) Shearer of Sterling; two daughters Wendy L. Drott of Denver CO, and Ruth J. (Richard) Waterman of Charlotte NC; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. 

   Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard L. Shearer; three brothers John Skarin, Bill Skarin, and Dale Skarin; three sisters Elzene Webber, June VanWynsberghe, and Joyce Chamberlain and one grandson, Stann Shearer.

   Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday June 26, 2019 at Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation, in Sterling.  Visitation will be from 10:00AM to 11:00 AM Wednesday, one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown, following the funeral.
