SAN ANTONIO TX-David Lee Shearburn, passed away December 15, 2019 in San Antonio Texas. He was Born June 11, 1941 in Sterling the son of Olen Otis and Ruth (Schmittling) Shearburn. David married Gwendolyn Machaell on July 29, 1959 in Sterling Illinois. David was a life-long fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. His hobbies included antiques, golf, tennis, and coaching his sons in little league baseball. He loved dogs, particularly his dog Meggie and his favorite pastime was feeding all the neighborhood squirrels. David retired from Northwestern Steel and Wire. Survivors include his wife Gwendolyn; children Cathryn Halpin of San Antonio Texas, Mike (Michele) Shearburn of Orlando Florida, Chris (Sybil) Shearburn of Huntsville Alabama; six grandchildren, Nicholas and Matthew Halpin, and Sarah, Michael, Andrew, and Sophie Shearburn; and six great-grandchildren, Xavier, Samuel, Roman, Joshua, Thaddeus, and Theoden Halpin. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Doris Cook, son-in-law John Halpin, and grandson Kyle Halpin. Funeral service will be at 1PM Monday, December 30, 2019 at Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling with Reverend Jeff Coester, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be from 1-3 pm Sunday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established. Condolences may be sent to www.schillingfuneralhome.com.
