STERLING- Juanita Rose, 89, of Sterling, passed away on December 25, 2019 at Rock River Hospice and Home. She was born January 15, 1930 in Aurora, the daughter of Otto and Dora (Henken) Johnson. Juanita and her siblings were raised on the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, IL. She married Douglas Rose on October 25, 1952 in Lisle. He preceded her in death on August 20, 1973. She was a member of Rock Falls Congregational Church and lifetime member of Rock Falls Legion. She was an avid bowler at Rocket Lanes and later Blackhawk Lanes. She played Euchre every Tuesday at the Senior Center and played dominos and cards with friends at Sterling Towers. She was a homemaker and later worked at A&W in Rock Falls and then K-mart, retiring in 2000. She enjoyed going to the casino with her friends. Survivors include her children, Karen (Ron) Rose-Spencer of Stover, MO, Garry(Sue) Rose of Toulon and Nancy Rose of Monroe, WI; grandchildren, Adrienne Rose of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Jimmy (Jamie) Baxter of Moline, Jamie Anna Beth Baxter and Kalejh Rose-Parr of Monroe; three step-grandchildren; Jeff (Amy) Buss of Toulon, Kevin Buss of Cambridge and Brian (Amber) Buss of Bartonville; seven great-grandchildren; ten step great-grandchildren; one step great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Liz Holmquist, Bonnie Kunde, Phyllis Machnicki, Clarise McGinn, Ruth Wolf; her church family; Kmart family and Sterling Towers friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents, sister Selma Slepika and brother, Clifford Johnson. Memorial services will be held at 12PM on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at First Congregational Church of Rock Falls with Pastor Al Campbell, officiating. Visitation will be from 11AM-12 PM, prior to services at the church. Dinner will follow services at the church. A memorial has been established.
