Obituary of Jose Daniel Montanez

STERLING- Jose Daniel Montanez, 65, of Rock Falls, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Rock River Hospice and Home, Sterling. He was born October 13, 1954 in Sterling, the son of Daniel and Victoria (Vargas) Montanez. He enjoyed playing pool, gardening, fishing, and spending time with his dog Daisy. Prior to his passing he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Survivors include one daughter, Victoria (Tony) Chase of Chandler, AZ ; three brothers, Hector (Stephanie) Montanez of Sterling, Peter (Rita) Montanez of Hollywood, Gabriel (Davia) Montanez of California, MD; three sisters, Carmen Montanez of Rockford, Janet (Silver) Silguero of Corpus Christi; Dolores (Mike) Blais of Mount Caroll; four grandchildren, Dorian and Darian Chase, Angela (Daniel) Moges, Kierra (Josh) Long; one great-grandchild and one great-grandchild on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Virginia and Mirta. Memorial services will be held at 12PM on Friday, January 24, 2020 at Schilling Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Porter, officiating. Visitation will be from 11AM-12 PM, prior to services at the funeral home. A memorial has been established.
