Obituary of Nancy Lillyman

Nancy Lee Lillyman, 64, of Dixon died November 14, 2020 after a long battle with cancer. Nancy Lee was born on August 4th, 1956 in Sterling, IL the daughter of Don Hames and Dorothy Kicksey. Nancy attended high school in Sterling, IL. Nancy Lee was married briefly, and had a son which changed her life, she then divorced and was it forced her to make some new life decisions. She then went back to school to finish her Associate of Science degree in 1981 at Sauk Valley College. Nancy then took a job assisting special needs adults at the Kreider Center in Dixon. While in college she became close with Jim Lillyman and after a short courtship they moved in together and married. Jim adopted Jessie, cared for him like a father and gave him the Lillyman name. After they married they moved to Dixon, a short time later they decided to purchased Dixon Monument in 1984. She enjoyed her time at Kreider but after they purchased the new business it was time to move on to something that would provide a challenge. Nancy Lee suddenly found her calling, designing unique and loving memories, monuments, to those who have lost so much. Nancy had a way of soothing the inconsolable. While she progressed in her understanding of her new career she discovered a new love, stained glass. Out of this new love Stained Glass by Nancy Lee was created, her second business. She quickly became a master in creatively molding and designing very unique and exquisite pieces. Nancy’s art pieces are displayed in hospitals, churches and many homes and businesses in the surrounding areas. Nancy Lee is survived by her ex-husband Jim Lillyman her son Jessie, her granddaughter and her “best buddy” Hailey, her sisters Linda (Terry) Conboy, Donetta (Jon) Farster, her step brother Richard Kicksey, her step sister Jennie Hames, her step father of 38 years Richard Kicksey, and her maternal aunt Janice (Harlan) Bell, and her paternal aunt Carol Hames. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Brad, and her best friend, her Jack Russell Terrier Shelby Lee. Funeral services are being postponed at this time to mitigate any exposure to the current pandemic. The family and close friends will be notified when future arrangements are made.
