Obituary of Edythe M Geiger

Edythe M. Geiger, 86, of Sterling died March 17, 2021 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.  Edythe was born February 14, 1935 in Cherokee KS the daughter of Vernon and Faye (Sharp) Hall.  She married Lloyd W. Geiger on August 24, 1956 in Rock Falls. He preceded her in death on April 29, 1989.  Edythe attended Rock Falls schools, she graduated from Swedish American Hospital Nursing School in 1956 as an R.N. She was the office nurse for Dr. Edward Zaeske. She then worked 37 years at Sinnissippi Centers in Dixon IL. refusing to completely retire until she had something to do with a purpose. She then became the director of the food pantry of First Christian Church of Rock Falls which she was a lifelong member. Edythe enjoyed gardening, and spending time with her family.    Survivors include one daughter Brenda (Robert) Allen of Sterling; one sister Elizabeth Sankey of Lincoln NE; grandchildren and great-grandchildren include Jeremy (Stacey) Siperly, Jennifer L. Allen, CheyEllen (Chad) Byers, Elijah (Stephanie Lundsford) Deatherage, Autumn Deatherage, Alexander Siperly, Nickolas Byers, and Ezra Freeman; one son-in-law Harold Deatherage of Princeville.    She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Rhonda L. Deatherage; a brother Charles Allan Hall; and special friend and partner Glen L. Palmer.  A private graveside will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling.    A memorial has been established to the Food Pantry at First Christian Church of Rock Falls.    Condolences may be sent to www.schillingfuneralhome.com
