STERLING-Carlton H. “Bud” Fisher, Jr., 75, of Sterling, died Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Rock River Hospice & Home in Sterling. Carlton was born, November 2, 1945 in Sterling, the son of Carlton and Ruth (Friesen) Fisher. He married Jo Anne Digby on December 2, 1990 in Morrison. Bud worked in the steel industry for over 50 years at the former Northwestern Steel & Wire Company and Sterling Steel Company as director of business planning. He was an avid golfer that started playing golf at the age of 7, and enjoyed taking golf trips to new courses with friends. Grandchildren were a special part of his life that brought him joy. Survivors include his wife Jo of Sterling; three daughters, Heather (Steve) Zoellner of Waddell, AZ, Sara (Bruce) Colmark of Sterling and Jennifer (Greg) Thomas of Grayslake; one son, Andrew (Cecilia) Schroeder of Morrison; one brother, Kent (Elena) Fisher of California; fourteen grandchildren, Alex, Brandon, Jordan, Sport, Emery, Macgregor, George, Zoe, Stevie Ann, Ashley, Michael, E.J., Kai, and Annie; two great-grandchildren, Hazel and Arthur. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth (Friesen) and Carlton Fisher, and sister Kay (Fisher) Allen. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, April 30, 2021 at Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling with Reverend Dr. Scott Porter, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to American Cancer Association. Condolences may be sent to www.schillingfuneralhome.com.
