Obituary of Paul Deets

PAUL F. DEETS MILLEDGEVILLE- Paul F. Deets, 89, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2012 at his home. Paul was born February 27, 1923 on the Deets family farm, the son of Glenn V. and Avis (Buxton) Deets. He attended the Woods School, a one room school house next to their farm. He graduated from Milledgeville High School with the class of 1940. Paul married Opal Seng on January 16, 1949. He was a member of First Christian Church of Sterling. Paul and Opal lived on the family farm for twenty-four years, then they moved east of town. Farming was his life. Even after retiring he enjoyed riding through the country, checking all the crops. He had several hobbies and was a member of the Corn Items Collector Association, Inc. Survivors include his wife, Opal; one son, Alan (Vicki) Deets of Chadwick; one granddaughter, Jessica Stocks (Michael) Moeller of Milledgeville; three grandsons, Matthew Stocks of Colorado, Jason (Mandi) Deets of Chadwick and Ryan (Sara) Deets of Peoria; seven great-grandchildren, Joshua and Kendra Stocks, Faye and Owen Moeller, Megan and Lucy Deets and Dawson Deets; one brother, Omer (Joyce) Deets; three nieces, Leanne Reecher, Marla Baughman and Vicki Hammer and one nephew, Norman Deets. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Janet Stocks Way and two infant grandsons. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the First Christian Church, Sterling, with the Reverend Ron Rixman, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Wednesday at the church.
