Obituary of Ruth Stanley

STERLING- Ruth M. Stanley, 79, of Sterling passed away Tuesday June 15, 2021 at Rock River Hospice & Home in Sterling. Ruth was born December 18, 1941 in Sterling the daughter of Lloyd and Marie (Braitsch) Landis. She married Willard Stanley on June 8, 1968 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sterling. Willard preceded her in death on May, 17, 2021. Ruth was a Special Education Teacher at Franklin Elementary School for 35 years. She was a Whiteside County Board Member, Sterling Township Trustee, and served on the Illinois State Board. Survivors include two sons Gary Stanley of Sterling, and Greg (Jennifer) Stanley of Honea Path, SC; four grandchildren Brenden Stanley, Candice Stanley, Aiden Stanley, and Ashley Stanley; and two great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and one sister Ann Reed. Visitation will be 1PM-3PM Sunday June 20, 2021 at Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation. Funeral will be 10AM Monday June 21, 2021 also at the funeral home with Reverend Zach Mapes, officiating. Burial to follow at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. A memorial has been established.
