Obituary of Claude C Nugent Jr

Claude C Nugent, Jr, 85, died peacefully on July 22, 2021 surrounded by those he loved. Born in Owensboro, KY, to Claude, Sr. and Louise (Carder) Nugent, Claude was a longtime resident of the Rogers Park neighborhood in Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by his beloved best friend and companion, Dora Kurk, and leaves behind the cherished Dirks clan headed by Don and Leona (Kurk) of Sterling, IL; his dear brother Darrell (Joyce) of Nebo, KY; fond cousins Betty Carder Jones and Tonya Pfender Bizzell; and a lifetime of friends from Austin High School Chicago (1953), Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, Loyola University, Kemper Insurance, Passavant Hospital, Children’s Memorial Hospital, Wrigley Field Sec. 115, Windy City 56ers, and Sherwin Ave neighbors. Claude and Dora were ardent Cubs fans and season ticket holders, and Section 115 was legendary for its celebratory camaraderie. He was thrilled to attend Game 3 of the 2016 World Series with his good and loyal friend, Joe Jodlowski. A proud US Army veteran, Claude embraced his independence and lived life fully, collecting a kaleidoscope of extraordinary friendships with his wit, compassion, intelligence, generosity, good manners, and those legendary humorous and heartfelt greeting cards.
