ROCK FALLS- Merle “Curly” Leroy Andreas, 96, left this earth on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. He was born in Sterling, March 22, 1925. He is survived by his sister, Opal Parrott; daughter, Deb Andreas; step-daughters, Mary (Robin) Dietz, Patricia (Ray) Doolen, Kelli (Michael) Hobel; step-son, Paul Starck; four grandsons; two great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mary Powell and Earl Andreas; his brothers, Wayne and Max; his wife, Doris and wife, Viola. Curly loved life, being independent and visiting friends at the Sterling American Legion, and the Rock Falls V.F.W. He was the last WWII Vet at Post 296. He served in the United States Navy. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of Lake View Country Club for many years. Curly retired from Continental Baking Company after thirty years. He then worked at Kradle Lumber Company and the Sterling Unit 5 School District. Curly and Viola moved to Apache Junction, AZ. When she passed he moved back to Rock Falls to be closer to family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 10-11:30 AM at Schilling Funeral Home. Graveside service with military honors will be held at 12:00 noon, on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Luncheon will follow at Sterling American Legion.
