Obituary of Federico Ramirez

ROCK FALLS-Federico “Fred” Ramirez of Rock Falls, died Friday October 1, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family. Federico was born July 29, 1933 in Cementville TX the son of Patrocinio and Maria (Arteaga) Ramirez. He was united in marriage to Esperanza “Hope” Flores on May 10, 1958 in San Antonio, TX. She preceded him in death on November 1, 2015. Federico worked at Northwestern Steel and Wire for 31 years until his retirement in 1994. He enjoyed gardening, traveling with his family, outdoor sports such as archery. Federico was a craftsman with woodworking, and took great pride in building his canoe. He was a great man, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, good Uncle "Tio", neighbor, and friend. He will be leaving a legacy of love and knowledge to his family. Federico enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. Survivors include four daughters, Enedina (James) Batten and Linda Mendoza, both of Tampico and Cruzita (Bryan) Toppert and Sandra Ramirez, both of Rock Falls; one sister Teresa Villareal of San Antonio TX; five grandchildren, Katie Garcia, Alex (Marita) Batten, Olivia-Hope Toppert, Jimmy (Heather) Batten, and Jessica (Troy) Boss; great-grandchildren Nate, Sonny, Lyli, Govanni, Reagan, Dean, Alexis, Alyssa, Kaden, Madison, and Nico; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Esperanza “Hope”; three children in infancy, one great-grand-daughter, siblings Miguel Ramirez, Martin Ramirez, Elvida Ramirez, and Trinidad Ramirez. Visitation will be Wednesday October 6th from 5P-7PM at Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation in Sterling. Mass of the Christian Burial will be private, and burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, in Sterling. A memorial has been established. Condolences may be sent to www.schillingfuneralhome.com
