Obituary of Lois A Ukena

Lois Ukena, 84, of Sterling, died Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Rock River Hospice and Home, Sterling. Lois was born February 27, 1937 in Genesee Township, Whiteside County. She attended school at the Canadian Settlement School till she was in 8th grade. She then helped out at a bakery in Polo. She married Louis Ukena on February 19, 1956 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sterling by Reverend Carl Kalkwarf. He preceded her in death on January 27, 2015. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sterling. Survivors include, two daughters, Ann Kennedy of Sterling and Cindy (Randy) McCune of Tolono; two sons, John Ukena and Ron Ukena, both of Sterling; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and her brother, Leroy (Joyce) Baer of Rock Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Louis. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sterling with Reverend Makayla Dahleen officiating. Burial will be at Genesee Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Friday and one hour prior to services at the church. Lois was always thinking and loved seeing her family. She will be so very missed by her friends and family.
