Obituary of Elda Dahlquist

STERLING - Elda M. Dahlquist, 83, of Sterling died January 17, 2022 at Javon Bea Hospital - Riverside in Rockford, IL. Elda was born March 4, 1938 in Sterling, the daughter of George and Anna (Iben) Ohms. She married Richard Dahlquist on May 17, 1959 in Morrison. Elda was an accomplished homemaker, caring for her children and husband. She worked at home, sewing custom drapes, and drove a school bus for many years. She and Richard enjoyed wintering in Florida for several years, living near and spending time with her sisters and their husbands. In retirement, Elda volunteered at the CLS Thrift Shop. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, sisters and many friends. Elda was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Sterling. Survivors include one son, Dean (Julanne) Dahlquist of Kokomo IN; one granddaughter, Amanda (Chris) Glinski of Milwaukee; one grandson, Josh (Ashley) Dahlquist of Sterling; one great-grandson, Jackson Dahlquist; and sisters, Helen Block and Marie (Frank) Kent-Johns. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two sons, Duane and Derek Dahlquist. Cremation rites have been accorded. No services are scheduled at this time.
