Obituary of Donald Baker

Donald E. Baker, 96, of Thomson died Thursday January 27, 2022. Donald was born July 3, 1925 the son of Marshall and Gladys (Buck) Baker. He married Norma Jean Todhunter. Donald served in the United States Army from April of 1951- April 1957, which included the Korean war. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, racing cars, and trading fishing stories with good friends. Survivors include two sons Donald “Brian” (Jennifer) Baker of Rock Falls, and Matthew "Todd" (Amie) Baker of Thomson; two daughters Kim (Fred) Dodd of Rock Falls, and Kristin (Steven) Kimpel of Polo; one son-in-law Ray Gonzalez of Rock Falls; 17 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, wife Norma Jean Baker, one son David Baker, and one daughter Michelle Baker. Visitation will be 9AM-11AM Tuesday February 1, 2022 at Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation, Sterling. Graveside services with military rites will be 11:30AM at Nelson Township Cemetery immediately following the visitation at the funeral home. A memorial has been established.
