Obituary of Bob Donnell

Floyd Robert “Bob” Donnell, 75, of Sterling died Thursday July 14, 2022 at home surrounded by family. Bob was born January 6, 1947 in Decatur the son of Floyd and Emma (Fair) Donnell. He married Bonnie Simpson on September 15, 1990 in Rock Falls. Bob loved baseball and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He coached Little League for many years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist church for 45 years where he taught Sunday School, and led youth groups. Bob helped create and run the youth rally for Junior and High School students for 10 years. Bob loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren following softball and baseball every chance he got. Bob worked at Bay Valley until his retirement in 2013, and following his retirement he worked part-time at Napa Auto Parts in Sterling. Survivors include his wife Bonnie; three sons Darin (Carrie) Donnell of LaSalle, Kevin (Lisa) Donnell of Peru, and Stephen Donnell of Mendota; one daughter Renee (Trent) Probst of South Carolina; three step-daughters Teri (Chuck) Beyer of Dixon, Lisa (Jim) Hogenson of Rock Falls, and Tedi Ridle of Rock Falls; seven grandchildren, seven step grandchildren; twelve step great-grandchildren; three step great-great-grandchildren; two sisters Mary (Bob) White of Sullivan, and Judy (Bob) Pierce of Windsor. He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Emma Donnell, and one step-grandson Joey Hudson. Visitation will be from 4PM-7PM Monday July 18, 2022 at Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation in Sterling. Funeral services will be 11AM Tuesday July 19, 2022, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Sterling, with the Pastor Brad Wilson, officiating, and Pastor Mark Curtis, co-officiating.
