Linda Martin, 73 of Sterling lost her battle to a rare form of kidney cancer. She passed away peacefully on August 14, 2022 surrounded by her family members. Linda was born October 11, 1948 the daughter of Raymond and Rozella (Sorenson) Bright. Linda’s children and grandchildren were the entirety of her world. Linda was a friend to everyone she encountered. She was known for her kindness, generosity and sarcasm. She loved bowling, karaoke, cookouts with her family,and her cat Stormie. She spent many years bowling in leagues at Paone's Blackhawk Lanes inSterling, IL. Linda earned her associates degree in accounting at Sauk Valley Community College. She retired after 30+ years from Wal-Mart Supercenter in Sterling, IL. Survivors include two sons Brent (Maria) Near of Zephyrhills, Fl. and Anthony (Andrea) Hernandez of Dixon, IL; one daughter LaCosha Campos of Rock Falls, IL; four brothers Steve Alexander, Dennis Alexander, Brian Sorenson, Parley (Marsha) Bright; three sisters Wende Slusser, Cheryle Riley, and Theresa Kitzmiller; thirteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Linda was preceded in death by her parents Raymond Bright and Rozella (Arrie) Sorenson; one son Bradley Lee Near; one great-granddaughter Riah LeRae. Per Linda’s request cremation rites have been accorded, and a memorial service will take place at a later date. A memorial has been established, and can be sent to Schilling Funeral Home at P.O. Box 592 Sterling IL 61081. Weep Not for Me Weep not for me though I have gone Into that gentle night Grieve if you will, but not for long Upon my soul’s sweet flight I am at peace, my soul’s at rest There is no need for tears For with your love I was so blessed For all those many years There is no pain, I suffer not The fear is now all gone Put now these things out of your thoughts In your memory I live on Remember not my fight for breath Remember not the strife Please do not dwell upon my death But celebrate my life.
