Obituary of Helen Mattson

Helen Boroski Mattson Helen Passed away Saturday August 27, 2022 surrounded by her family at Rock River Hospice and Home, Sterling, IL. Helen was born August 3, 1928 in Caribou, MN the daughter of Walter and Julia (Horasimowycz) Boroski. Helen married Harold Mattson May 14, 1949. They were married 58 years when Harold passed away October 16, 2007. In 1966 the family moved from the farm in Lancaster, MN to Sterling, IL. Helen first worked as a cook at Colonial Acres, Sterling. She then worked at General Electric from 1968 to retirement in 1989. She is survived by daughters Harriet (Kent) Bushman of Rock Falls, Hazel (Dave) Wagner of Pocatello, ID; four grandchildren Angie (Eric) Anderson of Chubbuck, ID, Andrea (Heath) Jordan of Chadwick, Jon Wagner of Spokane Valley WA, and Denise (Dale) Kramer of Chadwick; four great-grandchildren Dylan Jester, Alexis Jester, Trent Jordan, and Otto Jordan; one sister Mary Forfang of Lancaster, MN; one sister-in-law Lois Boroski of Lancaster, MN; numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews; special friends Rosie Mena, Mary Troye and Donna Kuehl. She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers Joseph, Mike, John, Tony, and Frank; sisters Sophie Olsonaswki and Angeline Praski. Memorial service will be 11AM Wednesday August 31, 2022 at Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling, IL. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service from 10AM-11AM. Burial will take place immediately following at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling IL. The family would like to thank the staff at CGH, Morrison Skilled Care and Rock River Hospice and Home. A memorial has been established to Rock River Hospice and Home.
