Obituary of Phyllis Lutyens

    Phyllis Mary (Kula) Lutyens died peacefully on October 20, 2022. Phyllis was born in Rockford, IL on September 28, 1947 weighing less than 2 pounds. Surviving the odds, Phyllis  attended St. Mary's Grade School and graduated from Muldoon High School in 1966. She attended Rock Valley College, Southern Illinois University, and graduated from Rockford College with a degree in Sociology. She met Gregory Lutyens in 1965 and they married on July 12, 1975 at Fisher Chapel at Rockford College. They moved to Rock Falls, IL. 

   Phyllis worked for KSB Hospital for 20 years and later retired from Walmart in Sterling, IL.

   Phyllis had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening, walking her dogs, and spending time with family. She could always make someone smile.

   Survivors include spouse, Gregory Lutyens, daughters Katherine Lutyens (Rodney Will), Sarah Lutyens (Joseph Wainscott), grand children Skylar Wainscott, Jace Wainscott, Jaxon Wainscott, Taylor Wainscott, Alison Winters, and great grandchild Presley Winters, and several cousins in the Rockford area.

   She was preceded in death by her parents Stanley and Katherine (Smykay) Kula.

   Visitation will be held at Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling, IL from 930 to 1100 am on Friday October 28, 2022. Cremation rites have been accorded.  The interment services will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Rockford, IL at 1pm on October 28, 2022.

   A memorial has been established for cancer research.
