My memories of Uncle Duane are fun. I loved visiting his house as a kid because he always had something fun to do. He borrowed a pony and let us ride her. Then he bought a horse and we could ride her. There was a swing in the barn that we could use or the trampoline to jump on. We even got to shoot some. He was good at making kids feel at home. I didn’t think much of it at the time but as an adult I have a better understanding of the thought and effort he put into making our visits special. We went boating with him and I got to tubing. All experiences I wouldn’t have had without him.
He was also pretty understanding. He’d let me watch figure skating if there wasn’t a football game on and if there was one he would flip to figure skating during the advertisements.
I enjoyed playing games with him. We’d play dominos and sometimes rook. We played a lot of games around the kitchen table at Aunt Kathryn’s and Uncle Duane’s.
Our family didn’t do Christmas gifts but every year Uncle Duane and Aunt Kathryn had some kind of gift for us to open. Mostly it was a gift card (best gift ever). I loved going shopping and picking out something I’d been wanting.
I also remember going to church with him. He really loved his church. I’m glad that I’ll get to see him again someday.

Our deepest sympathy to Katherine and the family. We had good times while spending the winter months in TX at Alamo Palms RV park. She did A very nice Bible study. Will hold onto the time we spent and good fortune of knowing them both. May God wrap his arms around you and help you get through your grief.

Oh the memories we have! The hours and hours of playing fast track, especially during COVID and Craig's cancer when we played hundreds and hundreds of games over the phone. Our long drives in northern Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin exploring country roads and mom and pop restaurants. The meals shared at White Pines, Fat Boys and so many other places.
