Obituary of Maria J Vasquez

   Maria J. Vasquez, 93, of Sterling passed away Wednesday March 29, 2023 surrounded by family. Maria was born March 28, 1930 the daughter of Jose and Clara (Hernandez) Rodriguez.  She married Vicente Vasquez on August 15, 1947 in Lagos De Moreno, Jalisco. He preceded her in death on August 2, 1998. 

   Maria loved gardening, cooking for her family, and spoiling her grandchildren. Maria's faith was the core of who she was.

   Survivors include four sons Gilberto Vasquez of Cottonwood AZ, Silvio (Carmen) Vasquez of Guadalupe AZ, Vincent (Carrie) Vasquez of Sterling, and Juan Roberto (Alicia) Moreno of San Antonio TX; five daughters Lusi (Gonzalo) Lemus of Sterling, M. Stella Huesca of Sterling, J. Elsa Vasquez of Sterling, Priscilla L. (Gregory) Vasquez-Clerf of Ellensburg WA, and Elena (Benjamin Parker) Barron of Galt; one sister Carmen Alcala of Lagos De Moreno, Jalisco; twenty five grandchildren; twenty two great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

   She was also preceded in death by her parents; two daughters; one son; four brothers; and four sisters.

   Mass Of The Christian Burial will be 11AM Saturday April 1, 2023 at St. Mary Church in Sterling with Reverend Carlos Sanchez, officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to mass from 10AM-11AM. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling. 

   A memorial has been established.
