Obituary of Sonja "Niecy" Green Robinson

   Sonja "Niecy" Green Robinson, 64, of Sterling, died Monday May 22, 2023 at her home. Niecy was born March 21, 1959 in Chicago, the daughter of John and Jean (Phillips) Green, Sr. After 34 years of partnership, she married the love of her life James Robinson on June 5, 2017 in Sterling.

     Niecy accepted Christ into her life at an early age and was a faithful member of the Big Red Church. She was a valued employee at Micron for 20 years and was the company's only Tenoch operator. She will be forever remembered for her bright, cheerful, and colorful personality. She cherished her time with her family and many friends. She loved cooking and entertaining and always warmly welcomed everyone into her home. 

   Survivors include her husband, James Robinson; one daughter, Tina (Eric) Wren of Sterling; three sons: Jeffery (Heather) Green, Joshua Green and Winston (Tiffany) Green, all of Sterling; one step-son; James (Karen) Ford of Chicago; one sister, Constance Green of Chicago; one brother, John Green, Jr of Chicago; three step-sister; Sharon Harmon, Vera Benton, and Lenneal Burns; one step-brother Tommie; many beloved grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

   She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Bernice Phillips and Carl Williams; one sister in infancy, Doniella; four step-sisters: Mary, Diane, Joann, Sarah, and Betty; one step-brother Joseph, and grandson, Amarion Green. 

   Memorial service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, June 1, 2023 at the Big Red Church, with Pastor Jeff Coester, officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM, prior to services. A repass will be held immediately following the service at Champ's Banquet Hall in Sterling. 

   A memorial has been established.
