BERNARD "BERNIE" E. BRUDER ROCK FALLS - Bernard "Bernie" E. Bruder, 88, formerly of Sterling, died Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at CGH Medical Center. He was a millwright for Northwestern Steel & Wire until he retired in 1983. Bernie was born November 18, 1924 in Prophetstown, the son of Henry and Rita (Sharp) Bruder. He married Jeannine Seeley on January 18, 1946 in Rockford. She preceded him in death on June 1, 1995. Bernie was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sterling. He enjoyed spending time with his family, his dog "Bucket" and riding in the golf cart. Bernie also enjoyed antiques. Survivors include one son, Rick (Carey) Bruder of Chadwick; one granddaughter, Lindsey (Dane) Petersen of Edgerton, WI; and two great-grandchildren, Chase and Eliza Jane Petersen. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Ila Mae Bartlett; and three brothers, Burdette, Clyde and Wayne Bruder. Services will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling with Reverend Paul Judd, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be from 4-6 PM, Friday, February 15, 2013 at the Funeral Home.
