Obituary of Duane Stern

   Duane L. Stern, 82, of Rockford passed away peacefully on January 12, 2024.  Duane was born August 28, 1941 in Sterling IL the son of Louis and Loretta (Rickleff) Stern.  He married Charlotte Blevins on September 18, 1965 in Sterling. 

   Survivors include one son Todd (Angela) Stern of Rockford; two sisters Marian Landheer of Morrison and Irene (Kenneth) Nusbaum of Sterling; one brother Darold Stern of Florida; four grandchildren, that were the joy of his life, Brittney, Samantha, Kali, and Hudson.

   Duane was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Loretta Stern; one sister Janice Brackemyer; and his wife of 57 years, Charlotte Stern.

  Duane served in the Army as a Military Police officer from January of 1962 to January of 1963. He worked for State Farm Insurance from the late 1960’s until his retirement in 2001, earning numerous awards and accolades.Services are being held Thursday January 18th for family and close friends. 

   Duane’s family would like to thank all the staff from Trustwell Living at Cherryvale Place for the amazing care and compassion they showed Duane during his time there.

   A memorial has been established for Christ the Rock Lutheran Church in Rockford, IL.
