Obituary of Donald Nelms

 Donald R. Nelms, 85 of Rock Falls died Monday March 25, 2024 at Allure of Prophetstown.  Donald was born January 29, 1939 in Prophetstown the son of Ira and Nina (Arnett) Nelms.  He married Barbara Reider on July 15, 1961 in Prophetstown. Barbara preceded him in death on January 25, 2016.  

   Donald graduated from Prophetstown High School in 1957. He served in the United States Air Force from 1957-1962 and was stationed in Japan from 1958-1960. Donald was an Elks member, he served in many capacities and held several offices during his time as an Elk member. Donald retired in 1995 after 30 years of employment at ComEd.

   Survivors include a sister-in-law Pat Nelms, and several nieces and nephews.

   Donald was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers Lyle Nelms, Robert Nelms, and Rod Nelms; one sister Joyce Perrine. 

   Graveside service will be 2PM Wednesday March 27, 2024 at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown, with Terry Lancaster, officiating.
