PIEDAD R. "PIA" SALDIVAR ROCK FALLS- Piedad R. "Pia" Saldivar, 95, died Friday, May 10, 2013, peacefully at her home. She was employed at Borg Warner for many years, prior to retirement. Pia was born September 13, 1917 in San Benito, TX, the daughter of Manuel and Guadalupe Rodriguez. She married Rudolfo "Rudy" Saldivar on December 12, 1933 in San Benito, TX. They had just celebrated seventy-six years of marriage prior to his death on May 5, 2011. Pia and her husband Rudy owned and operated El Porvenir Spanish Bakery in Sterling for fifteen years. She was a lifetime member of the ladies auxiliary at the Latin American Social Club and St. Mary Catholic Church, Sterling, where she also served on the Alter Rosary Society. Pia was a wonderful cook and seamstress, she loved to dance, travel and feed the birds, was a prayer warrior, loved all her children and a Grandma to all. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Sterling with the Reverend Juan Ayala, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM, Monday, May 13, 2013 at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling, with Rosary at 7:30 PM. Survivors include three daughter, Ofelia "Mickie" Coffman-Shoffner of Saugatuck, MI, Ernestina "Tina" Cantu of Sterling and San Juanita "Jane" Saldivar of Rock Falls; four sons, Rudolfo "Rudy" (Joy) Saldivar, Jr. and Ernesto "Ernest" Saldivar, both of Warsaw, IN, Arturo "Art" (Diane) Saldivar of Pierceton, IN and Ronald Rodriguez of Sterling; five sisters, Virginia (Joe) Donna, Juanita Craig and Josie (Kim) Wright, all of Sterling and Estella (Nick) Cruz and Emelinda Howard, both of Rock Falls; three brothers, Raul (Nicole) Rodriguez and Israel (Dolly) Rodriguez, both of Sterling and Paul (Pam) Rodriguez of Rockford; twenty-two grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren and nineteen great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Alice Saldivar, and one daughter and two sons in infancy; two sisters, Nieves and Guadalupe Cantu and two brothers, Ignacio and Manuel Rodriguez.
