Obituary of Peggy Prescott

PEGGY J. PRESCOTT STERLING - Peggy J. Prescott, 79, of Sterling, died Thursday, May 16, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family. Peggy was born August 25, 1933 in Dixon, the daughter of John Henry and Helen (Seloover) Stanley. She married James L. Prescott on December 30, 1956 in Rock Falls. Peggy was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Falls for most of her life. She graduated from Rock Falls High School and played in the high school marching band. She later graduated from NIU-DeKalb with a teaching degree. Peggy taught at Rock Falls Elementary Schools. She dedicated her life to her family as a loving and devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed hosting many family gatherings. She also loved her pets and had a passion for the game of tennis. Survivors include her husband, James; one daughter, Jackie (Norman) Prescott-Adell of Sterling; three sons, James (Sherry) Prescott II of Rock Falls, Patrick (Diana) Prescott of Newark, OH, and Peter (Deanna) Prescott of Sterling; one daughter-in-law, Tammie Prescott of Rock Falls; one brother, Jerry (Pat) Stanley of Rock Falls; and seven grandchildren, Katelyn and Austin Prescott; Jacob (Natalie), Colin and Emily Prescott; and Lynsey and Alexandra Prescott. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Marilyn Williams; and her brother, William Stanley. Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, May 20, 2013 at Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling with Reverend William Sullivan of New Life Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be from 1-4 PM, Sunday, May 19, 2013 at the Funeral Home. A memorial has been established.
