Obituary of Fern Harshman

FERN V. HARSHMAN STERLING - Fern V. Harshman, 97, died Monday, November 14, 2011 at Heritage Woods of Sterling. She was employed as a Floral Designer for Lundstroms and Swartleys over the years. Fern was born January 27, 1914 in Rock Falls, the daughter of Lawrence and Mabel (Ripley) Church. She married Glenn M. Harshman on June 9, 1934 in Rock Falls. He preceded her in death on January 9, 1997. Fern was a member of Rock Falls United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Moose Lodge #726 Women and Sterling Rock Falls Elk Lodge #1218 Auxiliary. She enjoyed being with family, traveling, playing cards and music. Survivors include one daughter, Crete (Thomas) Murray-Tegge, of Dixon; three grandchildren, Robyn (John) Johnson of Darlington, SC, Christie (Joe) Fiorini of Sterling and Margo (Paul) Trevino of Canton, GA; nine great-grandchildren, Heather (Curtis) Box, Heidi Crow, Jerah Johnson, Cassidy Johnson, Joshua (Roxanne) Fiorini, Lucas Fiorini, Kelsey (Ignacio) Cantu, Dalton Trevino and Keaton Trevino; ten great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Claire Church. Services will be held at 11:30 AM, Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Schilling Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Fassig of Rock Falls United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be from 10-11:30 am, Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the Funeral Home, prior to services.
