Alice L. Davis Sterling - Alice L. Davis, 90, died Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Sterling Pavilion. Alice was born May 28, 1923 in Sterling, the daughter of James and Anna (Wessels) Burns. She married Leland R. Davis on January 30, 1945 in St. John's Lutheran Church, Sterling. Alice was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Sterling, where she taught as a Sunday School Teacher and was later Sunday School Superintendent, as well as a Women's Missionary Officer. She also enjoyed singing with the church choir. Alice served as President and Secretary of Sterling Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxilary. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Barbara J Johnson of Sterling and Diana L.(Dan) Mallie of New Boston; a son, Timothy L. ( Gayle) Davis of Streator; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, and one sister. Services will be held at 11AM Friday, August 16, 2013 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Reverend Mark Oehlert, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be from 9-10:30 AM, prior to services at the church. A memorial has been established to the St. John's Music Department and Sunday school. Condolences may be sent to www.schillingfuneralhome.com.
