COLETA- Raymond N. Purvis, 81, of Coleta, died Thursday, May 1, 2014 at his home. He was employed at Prescott Appliance before his retirement. Mr. Purvis was born August 16, 1932 to Elmer and Virginia (Groh) Purvis, in Argo Fay, IL. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was a member of First Lutheran Church of Jordan. He married June (Stern) Purvis on September 23, 1956 in Sterling. Survivors include his wife, June; two daughters, Denise Linton, of Sterling, and Robyn (David) Bilbrey, of Acworth, GA; one sister, Elaine (Charles) Mills, of Crump, TN; one brother-in-law, Sharey "Leo" Bonnell; four grandchildren, Benjamin (Kaci) Linton, of Morrison, Rachel Linton, of Harmon, Derek Bilbrey, and Madelyn Bilbrey, of Acworth, GA; one great granddaughter, Elena Linton; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Russell, Robert, and Elmer Jr. Purvis; and two sisters, Marilyn Seeley, and Madonna Bonnell. Visitation will be held Monday, May 5, 2014 from 4PM to 7PM at Schilling Funeral Home, in Sterling. Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 10 AM at First Lutheran Church of Jordan in Sterling, with Pastor Jamie Gallagher officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Sterling, following the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to First Lutheran Church of Jordan, Coleta Fire Department, and Serenity Hospice of Oregon. Condolences may be sent to schillingfuneralhome.com.
