Obituary of Freda Nolan

FREDA LOUISE NOLAN STERLING-Freda Louise Nolan, 89, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Good Samaritan Society Prophetstown. She was employed by Community General Hospital, Sterling, as a seamstress for 28 years before retiring. Freda was born June 8, 1925 in New Boston, Ohio, the daughter of Orville and Irene Farmer. She married Harold Nolan in 1946 in Portsmouth, Ohio. Freda loved to bowl and play penny-anty poker with her friends. She was an amazing Mom and Grandma who loved being surrounded by her family on every special occasion. Freda was known for making deviled eggs, pies and the family favorite, pineapple upside down cake. Survivors include her sister, Elsie Spurr of Sterling; her son, Richard (Sharon) Nolan of Lyndon; six grandchildren, Annette ( Steve) Towery of Havana, Penny (Paul) Smith of Iowa City, IA. Tracy (Michael) Rockwell of Austin, TX, John (Chris) Ekin of Davenport, IA, Rich (Josie) Nolan of Sterling, and Kristy (Tom) Snyder of Moline; sixteen great-grandchildren, Tyler, Evan, McKenna, Emily, Sarah, Megan, Hillary, Hailey, Steven, Christopher, Elizabeth, Angella, Ryne, Jacob, Sydney, Keegan; many step-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Nolan; parents Orville and Irene Farmer; and two brothers, Orville "Bud" Farmer and Ike Bivins. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Monday, August 4, 2014 at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park.
