RIVER FOREST- Doris U. Christiansen, 95, of River Forest, died Wednesday, September 17, 2014. Doris was born on February 19, 1919 to William and Mildred (Jackson) Pigg in Sterling. She married Edwin Christiansen on May 4, 1940 in Chicago. He preceded her in death on January 16, 1998. Survivors include one daughter, Pam Johansen, of River Forest; Guy Johansen, of Franklin Park; one son, Joel (Edie) Christiansen, of LaGrange; one daughter in-law Patti Christiansen of Olathe KS; seven grandchildren, Sheri, Renee, Lee, Nicole, Ronnie, Danny, and Charmaine; seven great grandchildren, Lars, Taylor, Maddie, Mason, Mackenzie, Alyssa, Gavin, and Carly; and one great-great grandchild, Clint. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, ten siblings, and one son, James Christiansen. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 11 AM, at Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling, with Reverend Mark Oehlert officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 11AM, prior to the service. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling. A memorial has been established. Condolences may be sent to schillingfuneralhome.com.
