STERLING- Keith D. Kitzmiller, 82, of Sterling, died Saturday, September 27, 2014 at his home. Mr. Kitzmiller was born December 21, 1931, in Polo, the son of Orville R. and Lucille (Meyers) Kitzmiller. He married Mildred E. Miller on June 6, 1953 in Polo. She preceded him in death on October 23, 1998. He retired from Local 727 in 1996. He enjoyed playing cards, cooking, yard work, canning from the garden, and family. Survivors include three daughters; Vicky L. (Floyd) Wellman, of Sterling, Jean Kitzmiller, of Bettendorf, IA; and Karen B. (Steve) Arians, of Wilton Iowa; two sons, Michael K. (Marna) Kitzmiller, of Rock Falls, and Orville "Randy" Kitzmiller, of Sterling; two sisters, Marylin (Larry) Slifer, of Sterling, and Arlene Offill, of Freeport; one brother, Darrel Kitzmiller, of Sterling; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty-six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; two brothers; and one granddaughter Tina M. Johnson. There will be a family only graveside service. A memorial celebration of life Potluck will be held Saturday, October 4th, 2014, at Steel Workers Union Hall, with sandwiches provided at 502 Woodburn Ave, Sterling, at noon. A memorial has been established to Cystic Fibrosis Association. Cremation rites have been accorded. Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling is handling arrangements.
