Obituary of Fern Cordes

STERLING- Fern M. Cordes, 82, of Sterling, died Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Sterling Pavilion. She was employed by Valley Eye Care, Sterling, prior to retirement. Fern was born January 7, 1932 in Sterling, the daughter of Elwin and Ruby (Miller) Allison. She married Lester G. Cordes on August 6, 1953 in Sterling. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. Survivors include her husband, Lester; three daughters, Vicki (Melvin) Long and Vonni (Michael) Hall, both of Sterling and Judy Campos of Rock Island; one son, Duane (Sandy) Cordes of Walnut; one sister, Virginia (Ted) Martin of Franklin, IN; one brother, Edward (Anita) Allison of Flowery Branch, GA; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brother-in-laws, Harold Morrical and Robert Cordes. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Our Savior Lutheran Church with Reverend Donald Mattheisen, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Our Savior Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 PM at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling, and also from 10-11 Saturday prior to the funeral.
