JOE MORENO LAS VEGAS, NV- Joe Moreno Jr. 73 of Las Vegas, Nevada (formerly of Rock Falls) was called to heaven Tuesday November 18th, 2014. Joe was born December 23rd, 1940 in Houston, Texas, The son of Joe Sr. and Luisa Moreno. He married Carolyn Zinke on November 14th, 1958. Joe served as a radio operator in the USMC. He pursued his passion in amateur radio as W9RU. He was an electrician by trade working at such places; the Nevada Test Site, NWST Wire and TSE. He was also a member of IBEW local 357 where he taught the JATC program for journey men electrician and then later retired from local 357 in Las Vegas. Joe leaves behind his beloved wife, Carolyn Moreno (Zinke), of Las Vegas; daughters Laura (Al) Dwinells (Moreno) of Las Vegas, NV and Kristina (Scott) Baker (Moreno) of Charlotte, NC; sons David (Debbie) Moreno of Blackhawk, CO and Robert Moreno of Las Vegas; seven siblings, Mary Reyes, of Rock Falls, Eva Moreno, of Rockford, Ruben (Yolanda) Moreno, of Sterling, Jesse (Debbie) Moreno, of Naples, FL, Paul (Marie) Moreno, and Rita Moreno, both of Rock Falls, and Arthur Moreno, of Sterling. Joe also leaves Grandchildren, Angela Hamilton (Seubert), Rachel Moreno, Katie Garrison, Derek Seubert, David Moreno Jr, Megan Moreno and Cory Seubert; As well as great-grandchildren, Spencer Jett, Taylor Jett, Kullen White, Hope Cannon, Amathyst Campbell, Derek Jr. Seubert (deceased), Zoey Seubert and Aubrey Seubert, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Carlos Urrutia, great-grandchild, Derek Seubert, Jr, and daughter-in-law, Holly Moreno. The visitation will be held Friday, November 28th , 2014, from 5pm to 8pm. Funeral services will be held at 11am Saturday, November 29th at Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling, with Pastor Jeff Coester officiating, with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling, IL, with full military rites. A memorial has been established to the Kidney Foundation and the Diabetes Association. Condolences may be sent to schillingfuneralhome.com.
