Obituary of Charles Jennings

STERLING- Charles R. "R.C." "Uncle Charlie" Jennings, 72, of Sterling, was called home to be with the Lord, Thursday, November 27, 2014. Charles was born on July 12, 1942, the son of Lucy Jennings. He was employed at Northwestern Steel and Wire Company; he retired in 2000 after 36 years, and a member of the City of God Church in Rock Falls. He enjoyed time with family and friends. He had a contagious smile, and a heart of gold. His hobbies included playing cards, music, dancing, and socializing with his friends. Survivors include one son, Charles Sanchez, of Rock Falls; six daughters, Geri Pendleton, of Harrisburg, PA, Luci Jennings, Kimberly Jennings, and Tullyne Barnes, all of Norfolk, VA, and Felicia (William) Jennings-Byrd and Christa (Thomas Foat) Jennings, both of Rockford; one sister, Virginia Wright, of Washington D.C.; sixteen grandchildren, Justin and Justice Pendleton, Jessica, Michael, and Jazmine Jennings, Joshua Bady, Demario Jennings, Malik Kilgore, Malkia Jennings, Zuri Kilgore, Bartt Barnes, Jr., Trevon Barnes, Isaiah and Ebonie Byrd, and Thomas and Jayden Foat; and two great-grandchildren, Elijah Jennings, and Aaliyah Pendleton; a very special friend, Gina Long, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, one sister, Mabel Carter, and one brother, James Jennings. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 11 AM at Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling, with Pastor Larry Harts of City of God Church in Rock Falls, officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, December 5, 2014 from 4 PM to 7 PM at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial has been established.
