Obituary of Phyllis Richter

PHYLLIS WIENS RICHTER MILLEDGEVILLE- Phyllis Wiens Richter, 86, died Friday, December 26, 2008 at her home. Phyllis was born April 25, 1922 in Glen Elder, KS, the daughter of John and Belle Wiens. The family moved to Illinois in 1935 and Phyllis graduated from Rock Falls High School. She married John Young, who died overseas, during World War II. She later married Leslie Richter on March 3, 1954 in Coleta and farmed near Hazelhurst for fifty-two years. He preceded her in death on February 15, 2006. Survivors include two daughters, Marseyne (Bill) Snow of Oregon and Sharon (Chris) Worley of Louisville, KY; one son Myron (Lisa) Richter of Milledgeville, seven grandchildren, Katie (Michael) Hull, Emily (Eric) Otte, John Richter, Angie Snow, Alycia Snow, Nicholas Worley and Jennifer Worley; and one great-grandchild Emma Otte. She was also preceded in death by a son Randy, a sister, Margaret and a brother, Vernon. Services will be held at 10 AM Monday, December 29, 2008 at the Reformed Mennonite Church. Burial will be at the Reformed Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 PM Sunday, at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling. A memorial has been established to Happy Tails Animal Center.
